And so it begins....

I went shopping a few weeks ago to try and find my base layer.


Basically, my base layer is simply thin clothing in the colours of the skin underneath the fur. So in my case, I'm doing Nix's fursuit first.
Therefore, I needed:

• An Orange, Long-Sleeved Top
• Orange, Skinny Trousers/Leggings (No Bulging Pockets/Seams)
• Black Elbow-Length Gloves
• Black Knee-Length Socks

As you can imagine, it was a challenge to say the least! Well, the top, gloves and socks were pretty easy, but I couldn't find orange trousers anywhere! (To be fair it's not a very fashionable item for most...)


I went into every single shop in town! I'm not even kidding! I went into every clothes shop I saw; TopShop, New Look, Next, BHS, H&M, H&M Kids, Gap, Gap Kids, French Connection, Select..... And more!


Then, I went into every charity store I could find (there were about 10) and still nothing.


So there I am, waiting at my bus stop, and I realise there's ONE CHARITY SHOP LEFT.
Sighing, I go in. My hopes aren't high but at least I can wait for my bus in a warmer place than outside.....
I walk in.... Glance to the right..... lo and behold - ORANGE TROUSERS!


Success!


So now I have my whole base layer, my tail is currently on the way, along with my ear sleeves for my Necomimi, and speaking of which, my very dear friend has arrived back from America.... WITH A PAIR OF NECOMIMI FOR ME?! I know! Bless her, I swear I'll have to snog her or something...


Anyway, just thought I'd update you with how things are progressing. I'll also try to add some pictures in my gallery of the whole process, so you can see what I do. I'll include the price of everything too, so you get a rough idea of how much it cost me.


Either way, doing it like this will not only make for an easier-to-use, more comfortable, less stuffy fursuit, but it will certainly come up a lot cheaper than a professionally made fursuit (which normally cost £2,000+)
